March Newsletter: Moving with the body
As we move into a new season, many people notice an internal shift toward productivity and momentum. From a nervous system perspective, sustainable movement doesn’t come from force. It comes from capacity. Capacity expands when the body feels safe, regulated, and supported.
Much of modern health culture is built around correction.
Find the problem.
Fix it.
Optimise it.
Override it.
Thee nervous system does not respond well to pressure. It responds to observation.
In clinical practice, one of the most consistent shifts I see is not when someone pushes harder but when they begin asking different questions:
What is my body responding to right now?
Where is my capacity today?
What happens if I adjust before I escalate?
Working with the body does not mean avoiding challenge, it means understanding load, it means recognising rising activation rather than waiting for shutdown or flare. Crucially it means pacing effort so recovery is built in — not added on once symptoms intensify.
When mental and physical health are approached as systems to collaborate with, rather than problems to defeat, movement becomes steadier.
This means the change we create is not dramatic, or forced but it is sustainable. Long term, consistent and steady.
📖✨ Book Announcement
📘 Introducing My New Book: When Pain Lives in the Body and How to Heal
I’m pleased to share that my book, will be released next month.
The book brings together:
nervous system physiology and stress responses
inflammatory patterns and sensitisation
protection and adaptation over time
the window of tolerance in everyday life
and practical ways to work with the body rather than override it
It is written for individuals navigating persistent symptoms, as well as practitioners seeking clarity around the mind–body connection.
The aim is to offer context around persistent symptoms and to support a more integrated, trauma-informed understanding of how the body adapts over time.
Further details about the release will follow shortly.
🌿🌞 March’s Affirmation:
my capacity grows when I work with my system.
As always take what’s useful. Leave what isn’t.
Wishing you a peaceful month of steady movemet and alignment for this March
With care
